Description
Te Rito (2023) is literally the image of the centre of the flax plant. At the centre is the baby, which is protected by the previous generation, and likewise around that is the grandparent generation. The plant in general is important for the community in the same way. Every part of the plant is integral to survival, so when we nurture it, it nurtures back. It is in this way, the heart of Māori community.
